Caregiver Opportunities
Caregivers who are interested in immigrating to Canada can do so by choosing two options. These two immigration programs for caregivers were launched in 2019 when the Interim Pathway for Caregivers was closed.
The two programs available to those interested in immigrating to Canada as a caregiver are the Home Child Care Provider and the Home Support Worker program. These two pilot programs opened up in June 18, 2019.
Caregivers can receive a work permit only if they have a job offer in Canada and meet the standard economic immigration programs.
This work permit is:
-
Occupation-restricted (based on care-giving services)
-
Does not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
- Starts your path to acquire the needed work experience to receive permanent residence
Once a foreign caregiver is working in Canada, they can start gaining the two years of Canadian work experience to then apply for permanent residence in Canada.
