This visa allows a student to come to Canada to complete a specific program for which they have been accepted into. In order for this to occur, you must have received an acceptance letter from an institution you plan to attend before you begin your application for a Canada Student Visa.
Also, you must meet the following requirements:
You must be accepted into a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)
You must have no criminal record and are a law-abiding citizen and be no risk to the security of Canada. In certain cases you may have to present a police certificate
You must be healthy and open to completing a medical examination if requested
You must have enough funds to pay for your tuition fees, living expenses, and return expenses when going home
You must convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada once you have completed your authorized time to stay
In some cases, you will not need a study permit to learn in Canada if:
You intend to choose a short-term course or learning program (six months or less)
You are related to a family member who is part of the Foreign Representatives to Canada<
You are related to a family member of the Canadian armed forces
You are a foreign national who is part of the Registered Indian in Canada

Working in Canada While You Study
Foreign students that are enrolled in a full-time program can work on their campus our outside of it without the need of a work permit. There are certain conditions that apply based on the location and the type of program you were accepted into.
Qualifying For a Post-Graduation Work Permit in Canada
Once you have completed your program and successfully graduated, you can qualify for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program. The program allows graduates the ability to work in Canada for three years with an Open Work Permit. You are not required to have a job offer to acquire an Open Work Permit. Keep in mind you must apply for the Post-Graduation Work Permit before 90 days after you graduate from your program. In addition to this permit, students who have completed their education in Canada and have learned valuable work experience can apply for immigrating to Canada under the Canadian Experience Class.
Bringing Family to Canada While Studying
While you are studying in Canada you can bring your common-law partner, spouse, and dependent children to stay with you while you study. Your common-law partner or spouse will receive a Open Work Permit while you study.
